My name is Juan Saldana I am a graduate from William B. Travis High school and currently a Bob-Cat at Texas State University. Now let me tell you all, College is a wonderful place. If you all seniors are enjoying school right now, wait until college comes around. Applying for college is a difficult process, but at the end when admission letters come in, it will all be worth the wait. Just like many of you all I was in the same position you all are in right now. My key to success was to not give up and have patience.
I approached college with the motivation to be the best. That is why I took summer school, the summer of my high school year to get more credit hours. Now as freshmen I have accumulated 34 credit hours (I’m technically a sophomore) and obtained admission to the Honors College. My freshmen class is 7000 plus, nothing compared to high school. Motivation, Patience, and hard work are my keys to being successful.
There are many reasons why I am attending college. One of them is to prepare myself for the outside world. One thing I kept in mind throughout senior year was the money. I always told myself “don’t let the numbers scare you.” In reality college is allot of fun and it is definitely worth the money. Personally I think college is like high school but having to live by yourself and making your own decisions.
Again do not miss out on this stage of your life, and trust me it is worth it. J
